Bratislava
Bratislava is the capital, the largest city, and the economic hub of Slovakia. In earlier centuries it was the capital and the coronation city of the Kingdom of Hungary. There is much in Bratislava to reflect this history.

Famed for its healing waters and mud baths, the spa town of Piešťany, some 50 miles northeast of Bratislava, is frequented by many Slovaks and also international visitors.
Orava Castle is one of the finest examples of the many fortifications that were constructed on the territory of today’s Slovakia as bastions against the Ottoman Turks and in numerous internecine wars.
Situated in one of the beauty spots of Slovakia, Liptovský Mikuláš played a major role in the Slovak National Awakening of the 19th century. It and its surrounding villages were also the home of the Pálka family for almost three centuries.
